Christine McPhillips, LMT, CMT 224-715-8747 I am a licensed massage therapist, trained at the Cortiva Institute - Crystal Lake campus. My massage sessions are customized for each client by combining Swedish/relaxation, deep tissue, myofascial, neuromuscular and sports massage techniques. Clients should arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the appointment to fill out a brief health intake form and to discuss the goals of the session. A typical massage starts with the client having a few moments alone in the treatment room to undress to their comfort level, lie down on the massage table under the sheets, and relax. As the massage session begins, I encourage clients to focus on listening to the sound of their breathing, meditate or simply relax. For clients new to massage therapy, I explain throughout the massage what I am doing and why, checking up during the massage to ensure techniques and pressure meet the client's needs and expectations. Clients should feel free to speak up if they ever feel uncomfortable or need more attention to a specific area of tension. For those experienced with massage therapy, I’m happy as well to work without dialogue, but am always receptive to my client’s needs and concerns. My goal during the session is to provide a nurturing and healing atmosphere so clients can feel secure and relaxed. After the massage session, I remind clients to get up slowly to avoid any dizziness, then I leave the room so the clients can redress. It brings me great satisfaction to see my clients emerge from the treatment room looking rejuvenated and moving easier than when they arrived. Education:
